Fashion icon Hugo celebrates milestone
with Orbitsville
14 October 2008 – Iconic retailer Hugo is in the midst of celebrating 30 years in fashion. From its humble 1970s beginnings the progressive store has under the guidance of the Björk family risen to a position as arguable one of the most respected and influential fashion destinations in Scandinavia.
In time for the start of almost 100 days of celebrations Hugo commissioned Orbitsville to update its online profile.
Re-interpreting the brand and moving it to something more open and engaging included re-imagining both style and functionality. One thing that did not change was the ever present artwork by illustrator and artist Jesper Waldersten. This helped with the continuity of the brand, something Orbitsville's Andreas Vezzoli felt was key to the project:
The latter is well represented by the "Vandringskostymen" initiative. A suit by David Design is booked online and then handed off free of charge from customer to customer to use as they see fit. The only payment required is to snap photos and write a story about how the suit was used. This ads a collaborative aspect to the site, making it even more of a destination.
Andreas Vezzoli concludes:
Congratulate the 30 year old at Hugo-Sthlm.com.

"Hugo is many different things to its customers. Focusing to narrowly on the core of the brand would have been limiting, going all out in terms of ideas and content would have been too fragmented. Instead we pared down the site to focus on the things that make people come back year after year. The clothes, the overall style, and the quirky but clever ads and promotions."

"This is 'very Hugo', and one of the reasons the collaboration with our client lead to a well-liked website that people want to spend time with."
